2009 Reflections: Who Do I Want to Be?

Call for Submissions - Deadline: June 26, 2009

As members of the healthcare field, we all have the unique challenge of balancing the person we want to be with the person the patient wants us to be. As life experiences mold our lives and values, the image of the person we hope to become is constantly changing. This year, we are accepting original works that reflect the theme of “Reflections: Who do I want to be?” for our 6th annual publication.

We would love to hear your stories and see your artwork that reflects whoyou hope to become, both professionally and personally. This may be a personal story or anecdote, a poem, sage advice, a piece of art, or anything else that evokes the theme for this year.

  • Stories may include…
    • How the field of health care has helped shape you into the person  you are today.
    • An anecdote from a mentor or inspirational figure that has been helpful in guiding you to become who you want to be.
    • How the person you want to become has changed since you first  entered the healthcare field.
    • How you are able to (or hope to) balance who you want to be in  your personal life with who you want to be in your professional life.

Deadline for Submission: In order to provide a copy to all incoming students in the IU Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health, please send your submission (with completed release form) to Rowan Hurrell by June 26, 2009. We kindly request that you submit stories in MS Word. For graphics/photos, please submit as a JPG, EPS or TIF format (300 dpi.)
