Clinical Skills Education Center

Mission:
Through innovative teaching and assessment techniques, the Center's mission is to:

  • Educate health professionals to care for their patients in a humane, technically skilled, and responsible manner.
  • Train medical personnel to form multi-healthcare 'partnerships' with their patients.
  • Ensure that our graduates have achieved satisfactory basic and clinical skills.

Facilities:
The Center is an educational facility for the teaching and assessment of clinical competencies. It is located in the Methodist Professional Tower near downtown Indianapolis. The Center contains state of the art facilities that include:

  • 15 examination rooms with pan & zoom cameras for recording performance in real time
  • An observation room equipped with monitors & headsets, as well as, controls for zooming and other recording features
  • One conference room (max. capacity 50) that can be divided into two smaller rooms
  • Five student computer stations with internet access and print function
  • A fully equipped break room

Costs/Services
There is no rental fee for departments within IU School of Medicine. The facility is also offered as a resource to parties not related to the School of Medicine for a nominal fee. Please contact the Center for more information.

Services provided by the Center include:

  • AV equipment
  • Standardized patient recruitment, training, and scheduling
  • Patient case scenario development
  • Statistical evaluation & grading tools
